Overview

The project, “Understanding Human-Tiger Conflict Risk in the Eastern Terai Arc Landscape,” was undertaken for WWF Nepal to assess human–tiger conflict risks and vulnerability in the Eastern Terai Arc Landscape. The study examined community perceptions, exposure to tiger-related risks, livestock vulnerability, forest-resource dependency, adaptive capacity, risk communication, and preferences for human–tiger coexistence. The study combined household-level social research with geospatial and statistical analysis to identify key drivers and spatial patterns of conflict risk. A total of 792 respondents were surveyed, and advanced analytical techniques including Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), vulnerability assessment, regression, ANOVA and spatial analysis were applied to generate evidence for targeted conservation and conflict-mitigation measures.
